Today, when Will is alone, they will receive a text message from Aquamarine Fox.

Hey hey! Can you come to the cafe ASAP? I know it's a rough morning, but we've got some stuff to talk about.

Linger for too long, and they will find Fox's own prinny at their side, ushering them toward the Storybook Cafe. Upon arrival, it leads them toward the back and out into the courtyard, where Aquamarine Fox waits at a table with two cups of tea, a small plate of pastries, and a wan smile.

"Thanks for coming. You've got an important job to do from now on."

On their phone, Will will find a new app available to them: POWER SENSOR. In the app, they will find a set of rules that they must accept in order to continue:

RULES
1. Once a week, the Power Sensor will be given a list of powers and items that have been used from Monday to Friday morning of that week.
2. From this list, the Power Sensor may choose one power or item to gain more information on.
3. The Power Sensor must keep this role a secret.

After reading the rules and accepting, Will will be greeted with a new screen containing the aforementioned list. Once they've made their choice for the week and closed the app, they will not be able to open it again, nor will anyone else will be able to see or access the app or the information within.

"With any luck," says Fox, still wearing that small smile, "this will be able to help you tomorrow. If you have any questions, I'm here to help."

That... I'm not sure. It sounds like it's designed to help with what happens on Thursdays. But if you guys find something from the book or whatever, we can always talk about it and see.

Nope... We're still looking, but nothing yet. And no word on any new pages yet, either, so everything's a dead end so far. It's really frustrating.

Pages, huh? [...he frowns, thinking back a little.] Hold on, back up. When you say "book," I'm guessing you don't mean one of the books here in the cafe...?

Do you mean like a rulebook or something?

No, there's a different book. We found a page torn out of it a few weeks ago that told us about the whole competition. That's kind of how we knew you were coming.

...oh, boy. That's suspicious as heck.

Isn't it? But we haven't found anything else yet, so I don't know for sure if it's related beyond that, or how.

Mind if I ask - can I see the page you saw?

Oh, I don't have it. Amey kept it, but I don't think they'd try to hide it from you if you ask them sometime.

What are the chances this was two separate culprits, do you think?

I think it's possible. Attacking one person in a night is already a lot, I think? It's hard to imagine someone would go after two people in one night.

...But maybe I'm biased, because it's still hard for me to imagine wanting to go after anyone at all.

Well... with our worlds in danger, we all have a lot to lose.

But I can show you where to punch for maximum impact.

...I guess a hero should know things like that, huh?

[ hesitant. but they nod. ]

Only if you want to.

You can be a hero even if you don't get right into the thick of things for combat. I mean - I run into the battlefield all the time so I'm maybe not the best person to be saying this, but most of my siblings who are medics hang back and handle off-battlefield healing.

It doesn't make them any less heroic.

I'd never say that made them less of a hero.

My powers are better for talking people down or getting into places they don't want me to, so I don't really fight. But I don't think it would hurt to learn? Even if I only need it for something more fun after we get home. Emmy would probably feel better if I could do more than hide, too.

Yeah. So not being in the thick of things doesn't make you any less of a hero, either.

...but I can show you how to throw a punch or two for sure. [he grins] It's always good to know a little self-defense.
