Not that I expect some sort of plan. The city has been far more peaceful than I thought it'd be.
[Leaving aside the enormous, enormous elephant in the room from the weekend. But she's trying her best to not bring her increasing concerns to Crimson Phoenix. It's all fine, she can handle it all without bringing trouble to Crimson Phoenix.
It's better than expected! There's an actual park, a lake, and a place to keep yourself in form. This is by far one of the best cities I have been in, in my entire life!
[It's actually pretty exciting!]
I know a lot of academic brainiacs who would love to be where I am now, they'd love to see what life in the old world's times was like. It's...better than I thought it'd be!
[It's not like the existing Norwegian places she knows are bad! But she's gaining a certain fondness for everything that once used to exist in her world and now doesn't. In a way, she intends to spin it as another reason to do her job: to have a chance for things to someday return to that. Won't happen in her lifetime at all, but hey, she'll put things a step or two closer]
You don't know? I thought the team leaders knew plenty about us.
[Her pet theory was that the profiles were written by them all, but she probably was wrong, hah. Sigrun is willing to talk, of course! But she didn't expect the question]
[So they know only the most superficial details. Alright, time to go deeper]
I'm from Dalsnes, Norway. The place I come from isn't doing well. A century ago, kinda, something spread and began infecting animals and humans, most of the time killing them, but a few began to turn into these horrible mutated things. Animals became Beasts, humans became Trolls. Now only the safe areas high up north remain -- but we're working to expand that a little and get rid of the trolls and stop the rest of humans from dying too.
This... [She waves an arm around] ...this kinda city doesn't really exist anymore. Most of the big towns were in the old world -- the Silent World -- and now are just nests for trolls. Most things you see every day around here is a thing of the past where I came from.
[Technology regressed, inventions were lost, but hey, if they were created once they can be created again, no?]
...I see. Maybe our worlds are somewhat similar, then. There was a disaster of some sort in mine, as well, though not quite an infection, to my knowledge.
But humanity is good at surviving even in the worst of times, isn't it? I'm glad to hear it.
[Showing strength by trucking on despite circumstances is the best one can do, is her opinion, and although it's much easier said than done she's pretty sure humanity has shown they can take anything thrown at them!]
To be honest, I'm not entirely sure. I know there was a catastrophe and it killed a number of people, but some managed to survive. As long as we can prevent it from getting worse, somehow, that's all I really care about.
...so once you leave this town you're going back into a more urgent situation, no?
[She probably heard at the NPC introduction about how one can go back to their worlds as if they weren't gone for a while...but at the same time it's hard to take that for granted]
...looks like there's one reason more for me to try to win this competition. Can't let your world get wrecked.
[Still...there's the elephant in the room when it comes to the competition]
Anything that can be done so the rest of everyone's worlds don't get doomed?
[That's, by far, the biggest issue Sigrun has. Saving her world, yeah, she's all for it! But it keeps bothering her it'll mean throwing so many others to the trash. She has no intentions of losing if she can do something about this, but doesn't mean she likes what it means]
Thank you, Sigrun. I appreciate the thought. [ more importantly... ] We don't know yet. For someone like Nico di Angelo, it may be alright, considering there is someone from his world on another team. For the rest of them...
[ they shrug. ]
We're looking for answers, we just haven't found them yet.

[Sigrun nods]

I heard you mention that before - "the old world." Where, or when, are you from, exactly?

Really? What happened in yours? Are you all fine?

[Probably! Crimson Phoenix does seem to have the favor of the members of the team]

And I'm here to back you all up, too.
