I'm pretty sure they have always been called that.
[Apocalyptic Scandinavia probably still has baristas...possibly. I assume. Some little bit of the coffee industry must have stayed intact!]
Sure thing, red chief. I didn't come to see you to make demands about drinks, I wanted to chat with you for a bit. Gotta find out what you're all about.
[Okay, maybe she'd have accepted the hot water for real, haha]
[ much to learn. they'll put in the order then and turn to face sigrun. ]
So you didn't come because I'm so charming? How disappointing. [ jokingly. ] Gathering information is the first step in any battle, and I am here to help. Ask whatever you want.
First thing, obviously: what was it that damaged all the buildings back at the hotel with the cans?
[The capsule hotel. She never stops comparing the capsules with cans]
I want to hear it all about what or who did it -- and how you fought.
[She's assuming Crimson Phoenix and the rest of the heroes were dealing with whatever that was directly. They're the known heroes around here, they must have done it]
There was a battle, and the city was overwhelmed with a number of villains. What you've seen so far is the aftermath and Oceanside's work at reconstruction.
So it really was made by villains... [Sigrun shrugs] While we were at that hotel I found this black creature attacking the penguins. No idea what was up with that. Any villains use that kinda thing to attack?
[...it was Hanako. It was Hanako and Sigrun is none the wiser. She punched Hanako right in the face]
Usually the things I fight have no human component. I just thought it was some rogue monster.
[That's a lie, trolls usually were humans in the past, but she doesn't mention it]
I was impressed with how quickly the prinnies got rid of what was left of that creature after I defeated it. Guess the birds do have their perks.
[Inwardly she's already wondering if it counts to have done this heroic action before the task at hand of winning a hero competition was revealed, but she's not asking it, haha]
It is the same for me, but in this world, most of the problems we face appear to come from humans, after all.
[ they nod. ]
They get the job done, when they're feeling particularly motivated. You really just have to figure out how to motivate them. I'm sure they're grateful for your help.
[Doesn't sound like she particularly cares. At least she has pretty thick skin]
What do you think about the team you got? Pale shorty, that green firecracker and the cranky guy aren't half-bad. We had a meeting of our own not that long ago.
There's some grumbling going on about powers they got -- the ones not involving fire and tears and all that. You sure there's nothing that can be done about the powers? We all got new things when we arrived here and even more when we got into your team, surely it's not all hopeless.
[Of course, Sigrun already tries to argue on behalf of her crewmates. Lillium and Nico seem to not be satisfied with their abilities, although they do seem to accept the powers provided by their Crimson Phoenix allegiance]
Personal powers can't be changed, I'm afraid. Ours can't change either, for what it's worth. You should be able to swap between the ones you've borrowed from me, but that's all I can guarantee.
Otherwise, the best thing that we can do is learn to work with what we've been given. And I don't mind offering myself as target practice, if that's what they need to work it out. But I won't make myself an easy target, either.
[ it's less of a warning and more a playful challenge. it sounds pretty fun to phoenix, actually. ]
I'll pass that along as long as you don't hold back. What's your power, by the way? Anything hard-hitting or are you more the defensive kind? Go on, share with the second in charge.
[Sigrun already nudging herself into the team vicecaptain spot, hah. Okay, no, she's joking about that]
Why would I ever hold back? You can't go stronger if the challenge is always too easy.
Ah, Vice-Captain Eide, is it? We can work with that. [ don't indulge this. ] My power is fire, along with the others you're all borrowing. I'm more of a front-line fighter than defensive, generally, but it's better to have a balanced skillset, don't you agree?
[Being able to work in any role in a team is cool, as long as you don't try to do someone else's job without them asking you for help!]
So you're at the front, normally? Who else among you bunch is a good fighter? Tell me all, I so want to know everything about what you all can do.
[With everything she has heard about her team's powers and what Phoenix can do, it really feels like the possibilities are endless in this city. She still has no idea what kind of threats loom in the horizon, but it's pretty clear there's a lot of options on how to tackle anything]
Yes, I am. I think Yellow Rabbit, Gold Mouse, and White Tiger can all handle their own on the front lines. Amethyst Snake would prefer to focus elsewhere, but they fight well, when needed.
Week 0, Tuesday
Ah, Sigrun, good morning! Care to join me for coffee or tea this morning?
no subject
[She so is in for a hot drink. Yeah, working under this hero person will probably will be just right, she thinks]
no subject
they will lead sigrun to the cafe. ]
Any preferences?
no subject
Don't actually ask for plain hot water for me, though.
no subject
[ they laugh. ]
How about we just order tea and let the servers decide? Or... baristas, I think they're called now.
no subject

[Probably. Timeline gets all wobbly in RP, haha]

From what I know of you all so far, I think "balanced" will fit our team, after all. I think we'll work together quite well.

The others are better suited to other things.
