I've never had a pet before... I know dogs like squeaky toys and stuff... But do cats? Or do cats just like feather toys?

Cats like anything they can chase. Laser pointers are a favorite, but I have a couple of those already. Things with spinning parts or feathers are good choices though.

That should be a good one, yes. Cats have a strong prey drive, and the best kinds of toys for them tap into that instinct.

Would you say that you identify with cats, in that sense?

It's more that I like cats than anything. They're very cute, and they're a good judge of character.

Yes. With cats, you can't just force them to love you. You have to respect their boundaries and pay attention to their body language. Some cats might just be naturally friendly- Anne is like that- but if most cats like you, even the ones that don't like other people? That means you're good at paying attention and respecting people's boundaries.

But is that really so different from dealing with people?

People usually aren't vocal about it when someone crosses their boundaries. They usually just grin and bear it. Cats are very vocal when you upset them.

So dealing with people is harder, because they won't tell you when you do something wrong.

But also, cats can be calmed by giving them treats. You can't...well no, I guess you could give a human food. Nevermind.
