Oh, it's pretty simple. Everyone has a unique fingerprint. Not even identical twins actually have the exact same fingerprints -- that's something me and my brother found out when he was nerding out about police stuff when we were younger.
So basically, if we can essentially have a sort of database of everyone's fingerprints, and with the kit, we can more effectively compare... and hopefully waste less time.
