...I like the idea of getting information so we can figure out how to proceed. I don't like the idea of people essentially being kidnapped, again, in order to do it. [ not that this is about what he does and doesn't like. ] I guess my concerns are that the whole thing's a trap. It feels convenient that we were pulled elsewhere and were able to find this information. I want to believe it's true and useful so we know how to plan, but it was just there at the end when we finished. Waiting for us.
I'm not sure yet. [ he's honest, at least. but then he seems to realize he's probably overthinking and he sighs. ] ...it's not important, you're probably right. Something is better than nothing.
But this sort of thing...it's probably fine to tell other people, isn't it? [ admittedly it's a little late for him to ask now but it's fine. ]
[ he will come back to the important vs not important part in a second, because he has also remembered something else. ]
As far as I know, most of the other teams want to also find a way to get people home. [ from what he's heard, anyway. ] I don't know if anyone from Rabbit knows yet, but I'll probably ask Temenos tomorrow.
[ this time, he pauses again. ]
...I did want to ask about something else, actually. Somewhat related to that. I know you don't want us sharing our team abilities with other teams. But can I ask for an exception?
[ ray go to bed i'm leaving this autocorrect tag though because it's funny. anyway. yeah. he isn't particularly close to anybody on rabbit (and has only spoken to some of them once or twice), but it's weird to lock them out entirely. it's worth making sure they know the basics. ]
It's the least I can do. [ and. yeah. he kind of awkwardly pauses because he is aware it's obvious but jeez. ] ...he already told me his. And I know I can trust him more than anything, and if he knows maybe he can help me keep an eye on things.
DON'T GRIN. now he just looks a little indignant about it but it's mostly sheepishness. ]
More than anyone, even. But that's the plan we've been working with so far. Knowing what we know now though...it may be a little harder. We're still going to try. [ he does have the manners to bow his head in thanks though. ] Thank you. I thought about using it yesterday on someone without telling anybody but I didn't want to think of how they'd explain the possible burns.
[ the way he grins is indicative that yeah, there was a strong possibility. but he likes phoenix enough to actually ask. ]
That was part of what made me think of it, yes. But I've also thought about changing it to something that might be just as much help. I haven't decided, and now after today I'm rethinking that decision.
I think you may be biased, Phoenix. [ it's fine though. ] ...I thought about switching to Phoenix Tears. The healing properties sound like they could be useful. But now that I've seen what Ashes to Ashes can do I'm not so sure. Especially since there are apparently a lot of curses being flung around.
Of course I'm biased, but that doesn't mean I'm wrong.
Your Will has healing as well, doesn't he?
[ as if nico would forget. they say this as if he shouldn't need phoenix tears, with his boyfriend right there. ]
With the items you've all been getting your hands on, it isn't surprising that curses have been going around. But you'll have to be conservative about which curses to use it on. There's only one use a week, remember?
[ there's a huff because. okay. fair point. but he pauses on that one. a little funny for him to be referred to as his will but that's also not wrong. ]
...he does, yes, but. I don't want him taking the brunt of it for if people need healing. That's not fair to him. [ also there's the whole side-effect thing but he doesn't know if phoenix knows. ] That's the other thing is how it's once a week. Lillium said I should keep my power for Thursday nights in case I need it, and I know he's right but if it can help someone else on a Thursday I also wouldn't mind that. It comes back to not really knowing what to do, I guess. Which...[ he makes a face and waves a hand. ]
It's for me to figure out. [ phoenix somehow just has a way of making nico talk. ]
Good point, he shouldn't be the only one. We do have hospitals to help, even without a healing power, but that won't work for something more immediate.
Lillium's got a good point, too, but I'm not so sure Ashes to Ashes is the best one for a Thursday, if this keeps going on. The other two are better suited for survival in the short term. [ ... ] Unless, of course, one of you is planning to follow those rules and wants to be prepared for receiving a curse for it.
Exactly that. I know he can handle himself fine, but...at least back home he had some help in the infirmary. And if remedies are all we have otherwise I'd like to think of a different solution. Not that I'm hoping people get hurt at all but it's happened enough already. Plus powers make things complicated.
[ ... ]
I don't know what I plan to do yet, Phoenix. But I'm going to avoid following those rules for as long as I can. The notes talk about a door, so I don't see why we can't find it and open it ourselves. [ ... ] Unless it's really not a physical door in which case that opens a lot of other questions for me.
If it is a physical door, we can always try to pry it open ourselves once we find it. It may not be easy, but I'm sure you're prepared for that already. We'll just have to keep looking, for now.
I like to plan, I guess. Even if half the time those plans get ignored to improvise. [ #greeklife. but he wants to be honest with them about the things he's considering. ]
I can do scouting, sure. I know it's about waiting but...the longer we wait, the more people are going to die, and the more people we'll have to execute to balance it out. Somehow that doesn't seem fair for a competition we didn't ask to be a part of. [ he frowns in thought. ] I guess I'm also concerned about why the notes talk about "this" round. The only other time people came here before us was you guys, wasn't it?
[ plans go awry all the time! it's no big! you learn to roll with the punches. ]
I'd like to finish this sooner, too. [ they don't like having to watch you all die, actually. ] But yes, as far as I know, we're the only ones before you. If there were others, they've hidden it pretty well.

Now that they've all seen me do it, it may be easier for them to accept. But I suppose you could always change yours, if it's too much of a bother.

For better or worse, we don't have fifty years to find it.
