There're plenty of things that I find strange here. For one, how the news seems to always be ahead of reporting the victims of Friday, and the witness accounts. And the pictures? Please tell me the prinnies aren't being paid to be photographers, too.
This is what I heard from when we were in the Netherworld. [ Sometimes you simply have to accept the way Disgaea works. ] Apparently they're humans who committed sins in life and now they're working to reincarnate.
Right. Phoenix mentioned you guys were there a little while ago. [ sometimes your character teaches mine about disgaea all over again. ]
...that's a familiar concept, but usually they're shades. Prinnies are new. But I guess that world has its own way of doing things and I can only hope that the people who have passed on here aren't stuck as prinnies somewhere.
[ ...though the idea of an argalia prinny is hilarious. ]
Mm. Usually they're souls who don't want to be judged, so they go to Asphodel. And from there, they slowly begin to lose their memories of who they were in life. There's no making up for anything. You either go to Asphodel if you don't want to be judged, Elysium if you're determined to be heroic or virtuous, or the Fields of Punishment if you're judged to be a bad person. You spend your days being tortured to make up for your sins.
[ happy things. ]
Do you think an Argalia prinny would say more than "dood", or would it be a very word and verbose "dood"?
[ They're listening intently as Nico talks about the afterlife he's aware of. ] The Greek afterlife, then? If they forget who they are do they just stay there and become increasingly lost?
[ They consider this. ] He seems like the type who would be verbose, even as a prinny.
I wasn't sure how familiar you may be. Some of you are and some of you aren't. But yeah that's...about right. The field's usually pretty full because so many of them are listless and stand around aimlessly. [ that aside, there's a tiny grin. ] Maybe we should be glad we'll never have to see a prinny Argalia. Or...any more prinnies than we already have. It seems like everybody already has their hands full.
I think it's a little more interesting for me to hear about the worlds were they aren't. But...guess I can see why the reverse would be true, too.
[ the prinnies truly are doing their best, and he grins a little. ] I'm surprised the citizens of Oceanside don't think they're strange at all. Everyone's sort of accepting of all of these things happening around them.
That's just another thing that's been bothering me. The lack of information about this city's history...like someone went through and wiped everything out. Maybe the prinnies were brought in to assist the villains instead if they came when you guys did.
[ he does not seem to mean it, but he also is still vaguely working under the idea the prinnies are spying on them, so. ]
To be fair, they're, like, three feet tall and have flippers for hands. I think villainy might be hard, but the grunt work's a possibility. [ still... ] Where do you think they went? They had to have existed if the paper's been long established before us, right?
Oh, you've heard about that. [ that's good. that's one less thing to bring up on his own in an awkward segue. ] Rabbit told me you might have a copy of a paper you guys found before. From your moon mission. Does it compare to what we've found recently?
Unsurprising. [ don't sound fond about it, idiot. ] ...if you'd be open to it, yes. I'd like to take a look for comparison. Maybe it'll give us an idea of what to expect next.
[ up! he is up and immediately bounding after them. me almost gendering this npc. anyway he kind of makes a face at that, but it's fine. ]
I know I could just ask him myself, but I have a feeling he'd just tell me to come back and talk to you myself anyway. [ a pause. ] Besides, I have been meaning to speak with all of you sooner or later. There's just been...a lot happening lately.

[ are the prinnies spies. help. ]

I don't believe they're being paid for it...? It does say Prinny Photography Guild on all of them.

Are you trying to say the prinnies were evil and now this is their punishment? [ help. ] Has it always been this way since you guys arrived?

I don't know the finer details of their cycle.

[ A considering noise ] I'd like to see Argalia as one. [ Consider: it would be funny. ]

[ That gets a little laugh out of them. ] There's definitely enough prinnies around.

They've been here as long as we have, so I assume they've acclimated?
no subject
[ ...huh. ]
Do you know if the prinnies were here before you? Or did they arrive at the same time as you guys?

[ Thoughtful. ]
I can't say for certain. It's difficult to look up the history of the city. I think it was around the same time as us?

If they're meant for villainy... I've never caught them doing any crimes.
[ They can imagine what the prinnies would say, "Dood! I'm trying to pay off my sins, dood!" ]
I haven't seen any papers from the time period before you arrived either. I'm sure they used to exist.

[ Hm, as they consider. ]
They could've been dispersed elsewhere. Like the way you managed to find pages outside of the city?

Rabbit is correct. Would you like to see it? From my comparison, they looked like the same type of paper and handwriting.
