[Since they're both in the same dorms, White Tiger will be waiting in the library for Danny. They are sitting on the well-worn leather chair and have a book with them, but they will put a bookmark in and close the book when Danny approaches.]

Hello. Do you like the dorm?

[ he blinks in surprise and then gives the room a cursory glance ] What? Yeah, sure, whatever.

Look, more importantly--I have questions. And hopefully, you can be a little more forthcoming with answers now that we're in private.

As I said before, what we know is limited. But I will share whatever I can.

[ huffs ] Right.

Well, first thing's first. Did you have anything to do with who got picked to get dragged into this?

I did not, no. I would have preferred it stay with just the eight of us from before, more people means more difficulty working as a group.

[They say, while Nimona is currently drawing swear words on the board in the meeting room.]

Ugh, great. Do you know who did pick us? And who wrote these profiles about us?

The profiles were written by the prinnies, I think. But I don't know who picked you, no. We still don't know why the first group was chosen to be brought here, and we have been working on it for months.

Hmm.

And what if the wrong person got pulled in, instead of the one that was actually picked?

Then they have to deal with that, I suppose. A lot of us aren't the 'right' person for the job, but we make due.

No, I mean, what if the profile is wrong. It's for someone else.

Then they mistook you for someone else. It can happen.

If they got the wrong name down you don't have to go by it, you can use your real name.

Uh-huh. And what if they accidentally bring in a villain instead of a hero for this little competition?

They'll probably die eventually.

What? What is that supposed to mean?

[They shrug.]

This world is weird. We just arrest villains and the cops take them to jail, but sometimes one or another will end up dying from hubris. Like, they make a big machine and then fall in it.

And those in the "hero competition" aren't immune to arrest? Or...hubris?

I mean. Gold Mouse punched a vending machine across several blocks of the city. There's some leeway for us. Just don't go doing heinous crimes and you should be fine.

[ snorts. yeah, that did happen, huh. gold mouse is legit. ]

And if I decide not to do any crimes or "heroic deeds"?

You'll be here for a long time yet then.

I thought the competition was eight weeks.

What do you think happens to the people who don't win the competition?

The losers get stuck here for good?

That is our best guess right now, given that the original heroes- myself and the other team leaders- have been here for months right now.

...are you saying that there was an earlier round of this competition? And that you and the other team leaders are the leftover losers from it?

No, no, the leaders were here before the rest of you. There was no competition then, we were just being heroes and helping the city. The other four died, they didn't get sent home.
