Then they have to deal with that, I suppose. A lot of us aren't the 'right' person for the job, but we make due.

If they got the wrong name down you don't have to go by it, you can use your real name.

Uh-huh. And what if they accidentally bring in a villain instead of a hero for this little competition?

What? What is that supposed to mean?

This world is weird. We just arrest villains and the cops take them to jail, but sometimes one or another will end up dying from hubris. Like, they make a big machine and then fall in it.

And those in the "hero competition" aren't immune to arrest? Or...hubris?

I mean. Gold Mouse punched a vending machine across several blocks of the city. There's some leeway for us. Just don't go doing heinous crimes and you should be fine.

And if I decide not to do any crimes or "heroic deeds"?

What do you think happens to the people who don't win the competition?

That is our best guess right now, given that the original heroes- myself and the other team leaders- have been here for months right now.

...are you saying that there was an earlier round of this competition? And that you and the other team leaders are the leftover losers from it?

No, no, the leaders were here before the rest of you. There was no competition then, we were just being heroes and helping the city. The other four died, they didn't get sent home.

Great. Okay. So the running theory is if we lose we get stuck here forever.

...what were you told about getting out of here, when you first showed up? And who were the other four?

Nothing. We weren't told anything when we first arrived. We just got dumped in this world and had to figure out things on our own.

The other four were our teammates, there were twelve of us at first.

So you got dumped here and decided to team up and be superheroes?

Everyone has their own reasons for it. You will have to ask them all to get their answers.

For me, I found it easier to gather information on this world while working in the name of 'good'. Also, being the good guy for once was a nice change of pace.
