yeah, basically, but I could've joined the fleet and stayed captain of my own ship. just affiliated myself and my crew.
I joined the crew itself instead.

What made you decide to join them? Was the captain somebody you respect or something along those lines?

I was hotheaded and wanted to take his head to prove myself. he's the strongest man in the world, he gets challenges like those all the time!
Whitebeard told me to join his crew instead though
and long story short I did!

I feel like this has to be a way longer story than you're shortening it up to be.
Whitebeard must be a really impressive guy if you agreed to it.

a little. it took me a while to agree to join. I can be kinda stubborn.
but yeah, he is! He's one of the strongest pirates out on the seas, and our crew's got over sixteen hundred people in it not counting our alliances, and he thinks of every one of us like family. he's a great man.

That's a huge family, but it sounds like a good crew to be with.

mouse said you and fox were friends here, but what about home? what are your friends like?

I'm friends with Fox, but I try not to say that around them because they can get obnoxious about it.
Anyway, at home? I'm part of a group that's kinda like an extended family. It's like I have two extra younger brothers, a "mom", a "dad", and a "grandpa". It's a joke we've kept up for years now. We recently got a "grandma".

Of the ones that are younger than me, one is really difficult to get along with, but we're a lot closer now than we used to be. The other is probably the nicest kid you'd ever meet in your entire life. The "mom" is somebody who keeps roping me into manzai sketches. The "dad" is a businessman, and the "grandpa" is the sketchiest guy I've met. He's also a businessman.

I guess grandma and grandpa aren't actually that old?
sounds like a fun group, though. Even with all the businessmen.

Grandpa's not that old, he's like 27. Grandma's... I think he's in his late 40s.
The businessmen are great for paying for big outings, even if "dad" would rather save for his mobage rolls. I miss them.
Mostly each other, or sometimes it's just to get me out of a writing funk.
