[ once they're out of earshot, whisper is going to suggest quietly (she is always quiet but shut up): ]

We can look at the map on the way there. Figure out best route, get in, and get out. There are three of us, so three different routes to maximize our efficiency.

[ listen, it's not that she doesn't know what cars (or any motor vehicles) are, but she has been the one hitching a ride every time and thus does not consider the fact that none of them can drive.

actually now that i think about it, it's funnier if whisper goes to the front to wait by the car. clearly this issue is going to solve itself without having to think about it. ]

[ are we sure there isn't extra money in our pockets to bribe the leopard, actually. ]

That actually isn't the worst idea to divide and conquer. If we study the map on the way out, we can find three routes directly to where the treasure is. Come up with three separate routes out, in case someone's tipped off to our presence. [ whisper can wait by the car, that is valid of her. ]

We shouldn't waste too much time deliberating, I suppose. It's already further than I'd hoped. [ ... ] Wonder if there's a shortcut.

[ maybe the leopard knows that, too. ]

There's a good idea to start off: I work better by meowself, an' if the treasure's the right size like we've heard, then two of us can be carryin' decoys and throw off the trail till the real one gets far enough.

Hrmeow, though... these cities sure are bigger'n I'm used to.

[Glancing towards where Whisper is communing with their supposed ride, which he's just like. Distrust and also judging by the cars on the way here, it might actually be slower than some other means of transportation. While they're out and about, Hans is going to look around at other possibilities, including cars that already have drivers and may be parked. Hmm.

Glancing back inside towards the leopard.......]

We'd have to go an' put it on our tab, I suppose.

[ also glancing inside at the leopard. hm. ]

What exactly are you expecting?

[ rather, she doesn't expect anything helpful out of someone who simply just wanted to foist the map on them and be done. ]

The more people we get involved, the harder the logistics will be.

[ and that's above her mental paygrade :( ]

Three's the ideal number where I'm from. [ which is all he says. ] The benefit of a big city like this is there's always something going on. And at these casinos...they're especially busy. You can spend forever there and still feel like you're seeing something new every time you blink. If we need to, we can use that to our advantage. A distraction to get away.

[ this leopard. he just kind of glances...and walks up to him again just in case. ]

One more thing. Any idea just how many other people we might be up against for this treasure?

[ go get our ride, hans. ]

Six's supposed to be our number, but that's still too many for me, personally.

[Why don't we all do mysterious math, it's fine.]

Meow, this's the first time I'm seein' this type o' gambling den, but I'm startin' to see why this place is full of treasure.

[He says this while wandering off along the street, leaving Whisper to her skepticism and Nico to his leopard musings, because he's going to see if he can get a mark for their driving problem: female, either has a car of her own or looks like she knows her way around, and possibly a bit eccentric or is dressed a certain way in the city of sin.

Treasure doesn't just come in the form of a casino prize, after all. Time to see what else he can steal while he's out here.]

[ let us plan, then.

as i get incensed over the composer buildings for no reason, whisper is looking at the map astutely. they have a sense of where they're supposed to go, yeah? if that is the case, she will point out a few spots on the map. ]

...Can enter here, here, and here. [ help there are so many entrances. can i ask what area the treasure is in? ]

Might want to avoid main entrance.
resumed: (alert ♕ we have to go)

[ thanks for the ride! he will lean over the map to see where she is pointing. ]

I agree about avoiding the main entrance. On the other hand, this time of day might be decent flow of traffic into the building that we can slip in unnoticed. Blend in and split off without drawing suspicion.

[ he is also looking to see if there are three exits reasonably nearby from the places whisper is pointing. ]

We may have some competition on our hands, but if we move faster it shouldn't be a problem.

I'm tellin' ya, this casino's bigger'n a couple villages and towns I've been to.

[He has absolutely no sense of scale here, please help him. Granted, Hans doesn't seem too put off, either because everything might as well be Greek or outer space to him or because of the process of getting their ride. Who knows. He pores over the map same as the other two, trying to make sense of the layout.

It's really a chore; it's going to be a lot easier simply getting into the place and having a look for himself. But at least some of the labels are helpful.]

I'm thinkin'... get in through where there's the meowst crowdin'. Main entrance, some kinda secondary entrance. The pup 'specially-- [sorry Whisper] --she's short enough to disappear anywhere she goes. I ain't up to date on how good the security is, but we've got more options for goin' out than in.

Doors an' windows, balconies, sewers, vents, anything that might have a chance o' leading out. You two good at movin' on the outside of buildings?

[personal profile] wispons 2023-09-26 05:51 am (UTC)(link)
[ that is actually very helpful, thank you sweet mira.

whisper pulls a sour expression at being called 'pup' but doesn't indulge hans with any commentary. ]

Yes. I was a scout.

[ looking at the map again... ] It would be best to take on a different area. Although we have no way to communicate, so that makes things tricky. But searching together means a higher risk of detection.

Regardless, we will need to take one one section at a time to be thorough.

It's really not that big. I mean yes, it is big, but you may be over-exaggerating here. [ pointing that out. ]

Splitting up is fine if we can find some sort of signal to use to alert the others if we've found the treasure or if something comes up. We won't really know until we get there, I guess.

[ they...they really are just going into this without a fucking clue huh. they can look at the map. ]

At least we'll all be on the ground level. So if something happens it's easier to split. I can do outside of buildings.

I'm tellin' ya, though, this has got room for a whole village to live and then some.

[There's a laughing note in Hans' voice that says that while he could be exaggerating some he might also really not be exaggerating all that much. The flow of people through one of these places is obscene, and that's just back where they came from.]

Meow, if it's just casin' the place, we can look around an' then meet up someplace before the big finale -- my guess's we'll be looking at more security anyplace there's valuables. Just gotta figure out whether that's real treasure or part o' the casino's vaults.

[Which, technically, is also treasure -- but one heist at a time here.]

Meet up quick an' easy, don't go back the way ya came, and use some decoys to buy some time. Anything else 'fore we get there?

...If it's busy, we can just go out an exit like regular patrons. Don't attract attention trying to climb out a window. [ sir it's brunch time. ]

Security will be looking for anything unusual. So don't be unusual.

Keep in mind we aren't the only people looking for this treasure as well. [ he's busy looking out the window at this point to get a gauge how much of their eighteen minutes they've eaten up. ] Depending on other people's strategy there's a chance the whole thing's already gone and we're just wasting time.

[ he says, as the local pessimist. ]

If we walk in and just look like regular people off the street and check the floor for anything suspicious, that'll give us an idea of where to start. We can pick a place to meet after a certain amount of time, regroup to decide where to split up, and then spread out again. Keep an eye out for anything that might throw off our chances of getting out with it, and then head back to the car.

Nyahihi, that just means we gotta watch for 'em and kick their legs out from under 'em if we wanna really get our hands dirty. Might be they'd lead us right to the treasure too.

[Hans is being totally normal. He is the local normal guy.

Should we be planning for a thief battle royale, probably not, but he's doing that anyway somewhere in the mix.]

Somewhere in the middle's a good place to pull the plan together an' really kick things off. Theatre's usually nice an' dark.

'Course, if ya find the treasure an' think you've got a good shot at it? Don't go jiltin' Lady Luck when she's got a hand out, just grab'n run. Rest of us'll get ourselves sorted.
