[o i guess ty asked about books so i'll throw a post in to say he doesn't recognize any of them because they're all named shit like (garbled animal crossing noises). the walls are fine though. where are your pants.]
[he'll...look at the paintings on the wall. why do they look familiar? are they real? if this is a video game, there's probably some kind of secret passage they have to find? or a treasure chest with weapons in it? the only thing he knows about an*mal cr*ssing is that it exists.]
That's not great. [ nico says, wondering if he accidentally caused this by telling them about his trip last week. as it is, his tail (!?) hangs a little low, anxiously swishing as he brings a paw up to his chin to think. ]
Do you both still feel like yourselves...? Like. This is weird for everybody, right? This doesn't feel normal? [ he is going to wander toward the stairs to the basement, but he doesn't descend yet. ] I don't recognize the house...I mean not really. I don't think we've been here?
I can safely say that being a lion feels pretty weird for me, yeah.
[he is not normally a furry. he is briefly tempted to roar, just to see how loud it would be, but refrains from doing so for the sake of nico's and reigen's ears since they're both indoors.]
...it doesn't feel familiar but...
[but.
he frowns a little.]
Does anyone else get the sense that it... should feel familiar?
[the paintings on the wall are all like... famous pieces of art, actually! like the mona lisa, the scream, sunflowers.
the mona lisa has eyebrows, though.
the basement is dark, and hard to see down into from the top of the stairs, but... it smells kind of good. a little bit dank, in that wet sort of way, but also like flowers.]
[he assumes nico and will, as young people, probably know video games better than him, so if they don't think it seems like a video game, then he's probably wrong to feel like he recognizes it. so he just lies.]
[ now he's the one who's looking between two people like a dog confused which owner to run to. does he say yes it feels vaguely familiar because in that he should but can't pinpoint why? or does he say no because obviously he's crazy like usual and senses things he shouldn't? ]
...probably. It can't hurt to check where we are and see if something jogs our memories, right? I don't know what it is about this place, but it's weird being here. It looks like we have a few floors though. [ which is about all he says before he decides to go look down in the basement. boop boop boop...
it's fine, they can go down into the basement! nico goes first down the stairs, and finds what seems to be a garden. in a sense. there are potted plants everywhere, but the plants don't exactly look real, and they're very particularly placed on tables and on the ground. almost like there's a grid pattern that you can't deviate from here. other items in the room include strategically placed bags of fertilizer, a single shovel, a butterfly net, and a cauldron, which is full of a mystery liquid. it's bubbling.
the walls have a patterned wallpaper that makes it look like they're in a misty forest, and the ground is concrete, but it's painted to look like dirt. it's surprisingly detailed. oh, and that smell is still here, the dank earth smell, though perhaps that makes more sense considering.
there's also a couple of shelves, but they're empty save for a piece of paper that's just hanging out on one shelf.]
It's definitely not normal that we turned into animals.
[but he does like being a fox better than being A POSSUM. anyway, hmm. gardening and bug catching do sound fun. he wonders if will and nico would enjoy learning to catch bugs. it's a quintessential experience of youth. he -
It does happen where we're from but usually it's on purpose. Or because someone's been cursed by an angry deity or something. [ idly said. sometimes weird shit happens but he is also pretty perturbed that they are all furries.
truthfully he is a little alarmed he's here to start with considering this just happened a week ago (is he going to have a new reason to hate thursdays?), but given that this is not tripping a particularly traumatic experience and he's with two people whose company he feels safer with he's not quite as uncertain.
it means he can explore the basement. whose animal crossing house are we in. well. reigen has the paper and so nico drifts over to the cauldron to see if he can discern what the bubbling liquid is. ]
[the paper seems to be an advertisement for a couple of new shops that opened on main street this last week! there's one for Club Apollo, which seems to be a nightclub, one for Di Angelo Attire, a clothing store, and one for Ballister's, which is a general store. the advertisements themselves are written in that same weird gibberish as the books on the shelves from earlier, but the names of the stores are in plain english.
to nico, the liquid smells like oreos.
will picks up the shovel and the butterfly net! he is equipped for a day out exploring the town. maybe he can even participate in a bug catching contest - that's in a few days, right? they're usually on saturdays. the shovel is pretty hefty, too. powerful. good for burying bodies.
what?
anyway. that thought leaves him pretty fast. they're just normal tools. unbreakable. fuck you new horizons.]
will drops the shovel like a hot coal when that thought comes to mind, honestly. it doesn't matter how brief it is.
it takes him a second to process what reigen is saying.]
Unfortunately I cannot completely discount the idea that my dad might have opened a club, but it probably doesn't actually have anything to do with him? He shouldn't be... here.
[what do you think there's weed down here because it's my cyoa
anyway none of the fake plants are weed. the liquid is just normal liquid, it doesn't burn or acid his fingers off or anything! like, he can't tell exactly what it is without tasting it, but. it's a little warm, but not in an unpleasant way. there's actually a set of bottles attached to the side of the cauldron, like nico could scoop some out if he wanted.
the shovel clangs to the ground. clang clang clang.]
[ cutting will a glance of concern. he doesn't repeat the question but it's clear he's also asking if will's okay. in the meanwhile he will in fact scoop up some of the liquid into three bottles just in case. you never know. ]
Your father would have a club and not tell you though. [ tiredly. but he hums to what reigen says. ] We should finish looking through the house before we leave, right?
[this is a good christian neighborhood, or something.
nico can take the bottles! does he just keep them on his person for now or does he pass them out to the other two?
the rest of the house awaits! it's nice down here, kind of warm. this whole house is that way, though. it's something you built from scratch. lot of blood, sweat and tears.]
Yeah. Maybe there's going to be bombs or swords or something around here.
[this comment makes absolutely zero sense because he didn't say that he thinks this is a video game but doesn't understand what genre of video game it is. anyway can they take any of the items in the garden...?]
I wouldn't mind a sword. [ he has no idea what reigen is thinking. he just likes swords. regardless he looks at will like ??? at him keeping the net, but not the shovel. ]
I think if we're taking one we may as well take both? I kind of regretted not taking more last time, or at least being smarter with my choice. [ so he picks up the shovel, but he also opens one of the bottles of liquid for both of them. ] Both of you...what does this smell like to you? I'm not sure what it is but I want to confirm something.
[he watches nico to see how he handles the shovel. better than he did, probably. nico's better than him at most things.
(he doesn't voice that thought because he doesn't want to end up derailing things bickering with him about who's better.)
he heads over to sniff at the liquid. sniff sniff.
does it smell any different to him, flurry? or will he have to taste it. because if he can't get a scent he will try to take a tiny sip. don't @ him nico]
[reigen can take anything he wants, if he feels the need, but it's really just bags of fertilizer (which might seem weird considering there's only fake plants in here), fake plants, and the shovel that will dropped. i guess he could take a fake plant if he wanted, but if he tries it comes out of the entire pot with the dirt attached. it's all plastic, like a barbie toy.
when nico picks up the shovel, nothing really happens. he can let the other two smell the bottle. and maybe beat them to death with the shovel, wouldn't that be fun?
when will smells the liquid, it does smell different! it smells like soda - and weirdly, mentos.]
