it hurts like hell, but that's fine. she's got one hand free. rita flexes that hand a little, rotating the wrist, then reaches over to deal with the other arm. she'll try to pull the needle out, yank away the thing connected to her chest, and then try to undo the strap on her right wrist. ]
well, he's starting to get a mental image of what some of this might look like when he turns the light on and it's Not Great, but also they're clearly going to have a hell of a time getting out of here if they can't see where they're going, so. ]
Uhh... heads up, guys, I think I found the switch and I'm gonna turn the light on, but I'm thinkin' it might be pretty ugly.
[Datz flips the switch. It takes a few seconds for their eyes to adjust, having gone from pitch black darkness to the steady illumination of fluorescent lights, but—
It might have been better if they had stayed in the dark.
It's a terrible sight. Bone. Blood. Muscle. Lipids. Viscera. The room, which you can identify as a hospital room by the shape of it and little else, is covered from top to bottom in it. Or, rather, it may be more accurate to say that the entire room and everything within it is constructed from it. The IV drips next to their beds are filled with some sickly yellow liquid which, up until a few minutes ago, was being steadily fed into their veins. The screen on the EKGs is barely visible through the entrails wrapped around the entire console. The mattresses on their beds can barely be called that, seeing as how they are more akin to slabs of rotting meat than anything else.
Jolyne will realize the curtain(?) she's struggling with seems to be made from some sort of fleshy, fish-like material, still wet with slimy blood on its underside. On the bright side, it should be easier to free herself from it now that she can see what she's dealing with.
Rita's EKG flatlines after she removes the wires attached to her chest. She can unstrap herself from the bed easily.
They are all wearing hospital gowns and nothing else.
It is cold in this room and, despite the grisly sight, they are still so very hungry and thirsty.]
none because she's scrambling out from under the curtain as fast as possible now that she can see her way. which she almost wishes she hadn't. this is... it's a lot. all at once. her stomach isn't weak by any means, but at the same time, being dumped right into the middle of this. it really wears on a person.
she swallows a little. ]
What the hell is this place...
[ she's just like. folding her not bleeding arm over her hospital gown because this is weird and she hates this, especially the sacks of yellow fluid. thanks. and then she's just... looking around like are there....h....andle-looking things? like. a door... in the gore? ]
[ rita's voice wavers. it takes several seconds before she remembers what she was doing, and at last she unstraps her ankles. finally, she scrambles off of the bed, but as she stands on her feet, she wobbles a bit. the blood drains from her face, and it looks like she might faint or throw up. she stays where she is, gripping the frame of the bed to steady herself, her eyes tightly closed. ]
[ well. wow, okay, this is like, a ten times worse version of what he was picturing. ]
...Oh, man.
[ he's got a stomach of steel, but this is still enough to make him pretty queasy. he instinctively starts to cover his mouth but then looks again at the wall he was just touching and changes his mind, and just. takes a deep breath instead.
okay. this is fucked up as all hell, but... just gotta get them out of there.
hearing that waver in rita's voice makes him wince, and he hurries back over to her, putting the hand that didn't just touch the oily flesh wall on her arm to help her stay standing. ]
Rita, Rita.
We're going to. Here, you wanna grab my arm or something?
[ so she can keep her eyes closed if she needs to. ]
[Everything is made out of gore, yes. But they can still recognize the general shape of things amongst the carnage.
Jolyne will spot the door they all saw earlier, right next to the lightswitch that Datz flipped.
There is a second door in the room as well. It's to the right of the bed Jolyne woke up in, though they didn't notice it earlier since there's no light coming through it.
Both doors have doorknob shaped blobs of pus and viscera attached to them.]
[ pus and viscera knobs... great. just want i wanna read with my own eyes. her stomach churns a little as she looks at both doors. not great options. she's going to just move to group up with rita and datz, just in case. gotta cover her! ]
There are two... doors? I think they're doors. [ ugh. swallowing again. stop it. ] Think I saw light coming through that one... when it was dark.
[ if they aren't gonna stop her like she WILL open it. rita looks awful. she worries breifly, but then will just. touch the knob. can she. open...... please don't pop in her hand like a zit. ]
[ datz offers his arm, and while rita would normally tell him to buzz off, or at least put up some resistance... she doesn't. she just takes it.
as they start walking, she brings a hand to her neck and feels the bare spot where her blastia should be. just another thing about this situation that's wrong.
she wishes she could focus on some spot on the floor, something plain and inoffensive to the senses, but even that looks like it's been slathered in viscera. she'll manage to stay upright and walk along with datz, to join jolyne as she tries one of those doors. ]

Okay. Uh. One with the light's probably the best bet, yeah, so...
[ flesh doesn't glow, probably.
he'll stand back with rita for the moment, but be at the ready in case he needs to help push the door open or deal with something on the other side. ]
