Your limbs are heavy and your stomach twists and clenches painfully like you haven't eaten in a while.
It's hard to remember the last thing you were doing.
Without any proper illumination in the room, you're forced to rely on your other senses to start figuring out your current situation.
You're laying on your back on top of something firm yet soft. There's a little bit of give to the material and it's not terrible for your back, but it is so incredibly moist that the fact that your spine won't hate you in the morning offers little relief. Your wrists and ankles feel like they are bound down by something, that much you can tell, but you may have to do a little more experimenting to figure out what is going on there. It feels like there is something attached to your chest and you upper right arm, inside your elbow, and there is a persistent beeping coming from your right. This applies to all of you.
Your powers feel like they are completely out of your reach for the time being. Something about your clothes feels... different.
But on the plus side, you all feel human shaped again. Hooray.
[ being hit by the unfurrify beam should feel a lot better, but ,mmm. well. this particular situation in this very second... sucks. the minute jolyne realizes that her wrists and ankles are bound down, she is very much thrashing. she's not screaming or anything, but she is making a fuss about pulling at them so like. wake up. wake the fuck up. she doesn't care that she's unfurrified (or whatever she was before), she cares that things are different.

[ mm. yeah, this... does not feel great. what the hell? datz is trying to wrack his brain for some kind of memory of whatever led up to this, but he's not having any luck with it, and somehow the fact that he still remembers who he is this time isn't much of a comfort.
he also struggles against the restraints as soon as he feels them — do they feel like metal? rope? also uncomfortably moist? — while squinting into the darkness around him and hoping his eyes adjust to it fast so he can get some of idea of what kind of place this is.
he stops when he hears what sounds like someone else having a pretty similar reaction, and turns his head in what sounds like the right direction. ]

[ not bothering with trying to be quiet 'cause they already caught him, not like he can hide. ]
[Unfortunately, even as their eyes slowly adjust, it is still far too dark to see why their clothes feel different. That doesn't mean they can't begin to get the picture based on what their other senses perceive. Their legs feel a bit too bare from the knee down. Their arms are completely uncovered starting from a little below their shoulders. And, perhaps worst of all, their backs are completely bare and making direct contact with the moist wetness beneath them.
On the bright side, they will soon find out that they are not alone in the dark. Between Jolyne's panicked hissing, Rita's gasp and Datz holding onto all the chill in this group, they can at least recognize that they're in familiar company. Yay!
Jolyne will hear Datz's voice coming from her left, while Datz will hear Jolyne's voice coming from the right. Rita sounds like she's somewhere to the left of both of them, and conversely they are both to her right. If that makes sense.
Looking around, they can identify some faint hints of light in their surroundings. Right next to them, to their right and in the same direction as the beeping, they will notice a few tiny flickering lights. Green and red, flashing intermittently, but far too small to serve as a light source. To be clear, they will each see this directly to their right — because there are three sources for the beeping.
In front of Jolyne, and to Datz and Rita's left, they will spot the vague outline of a door, framed by a sliver of light coming presumably from the room on the other side of it. Still not enough to see shit, though.
Whatever they are tied down with has the strength of leather restraints and the texture of a particularly slimy cat's tongue. Blech.
Poor Rita with her nerd arms and a roll of 3 will find that pulling at her wrists and legs does diddly squat. Something squeaks beneath her, metallic, but nothing else happens. She's still tied up.
Datz, with a roll of 17, will have much better luck! The restraints on his dominant arm snap, freeing his hand and his now incredibly sore wrist. Hooray!
As for Jolyne? Well.
Jolyne hulks out.
All her restraints break and whatever she is laying on tips over as a result of her trashing, knocking her over to the ground. Whatever is attached to her chest and arm is subsequently ripped out, which is completely painless as far as her chest goes — but not so much in the case of her arm. Thing mysterious something snaps, with part of it remaining inside her elbow. Something warm and liquid dribbles down her arm.
[ yeah you fuckin bet that jolyne hulks the fuck out. it's likely a combination of getting the feeling someone changed her while she was asleep AGAIN and THE GROSS MOISTURE ON HER BACK? she flops onto the ground and tears through her restraints, panting through the pain as she looks down at her elbow now and tries to rip out whatever is in there, regardless, she calls out softer this time: ]

[ scrambling up to where she probably heard a gasp from Someone (read: rita) so she can try and untie her in the dim/dark room?! ]

there's a cry of desperation as rita's struggling grows more frantic. she thrashes about, kicking her legs and tugging her arms. ]

[ her eyes dart around the room, trying to make out her surroundings. datz's voice. and jolyne? what are these machines? what's attached to her?
she stops thrashing when jolyne comes to help, but her eyes are wide as she tries to make sense of the sickening textures, the beeping, the unclear shapes in the dark. ]
[The sight that awaits them on the other side of the door isn't much better. If anything, with the increased illumination, it might even be worse. There is no respite from the horrors.
Still, they can make some things out despite the fact that the whole world looks like it's been put in a blender.
There's a desk right in front of them with a door behind it. A chair and the upper half of a computer monitor are visible over the top of the desk, but not much else. Two vending machines (not pictured in the map) sit to the left of the door they just came through. And further to the left, right down the hallway, they will spot three separate doors. There's an elevator at the very end of the hallway, but it appears to be covered by a fence...? Or something fence shaped, in any case. It all looks like someone weaved a net out of entrails and slapped it over the doors.
[ man, jolyne has no idea how she can actually feel hungry and like she wants to be sick at the very same time. there's something that makes her want to literally skitter back away form the light, the fact that there's just so much more. she grits her teeth and looks over her shoulder at datz and rita, stepping aside for them, but making sure to keep an eye out because like
nothing normal can possibly be here, right? there's... there's nothing go here.

rita looks around, her face still pale, her hand still on datz's arm in case she suddenly blacks out, but there's a little more clarity in her eyes than before. ]

[ she mutters that, then looks to one of the nearby vending machines. they probably don't have any change on them, dressed in hospital gowns and all. but there's no harm in trying, she assumes, so she reaches out and taps a few of the buttons. maybe something will come out. ]
[ mm. yeah, this wasn't a big improvement. at least it's? less cramped, sort of? looking for some kind of silver non-organ lining. ]
Can we get through that... thing covering it? Should be a stairwell somewhere too if there's an elevator...

There's a sickening squelch when Rita presses the button shaped teeth on the vending machine. Nothing happens because she would first need to put money in the machine to buy something. Shame, really. The Bloody Buns and Oreyeos look absolutely tantalizing.
There is no stairway. The hospital is not OSHA compliant. Just glancing at the nurse's desk without going behind it, the monitor does look... meaty. As everything else in the meat dimension.]

When the elevator doors open, the gang will find themselves in a eerily silent hallway. There are two vending machines and a bench between the doors for 2-1 and 2-2. A few scattered pieces of... something... lay on the ground near 2-3. Something is sticking out of that door, but they can't tell what from here.
There's no gate blocking the way on this floor.
The teen presses a finger to their mouth, shhh, and moves to stand with one foot between the elevator doors.]
[ jolyne nods at their teen when she sees them stand between the doors... that's so smart. keep anyone from coming up or down. she'll step forward first to move silently into the hallway first without a word... can she have a look at what the pieces on the ground might be? ]
[ rita's mouth hangs open, clearly about to ask some follow-up questions... but the elevator doors open, and it's time to focus again.
the teen is helpfully keeping that door open for them, so she's also stepping out into the hall. do any of these doors have windows that can be seen through, or labels on or near them?

[Well, pieces might be inaccurate, actually. But it's hard to tell what is what when everything is made out of gore. Approaching the things on the ground, Jolyne will find some sheets of flesh-like paper.
No labels on the doors, besides their room numbers. There are no windows on 2-1 and 2-2, but there's one on 2-3's door. The door is slightly ajar, propped open by a filthy, putrid smelling bundle of cloth on the ground.
No one hiding under the bench. But a half empty bottle of Peepsi has somehow made its way under the bench, a third of its contents all over the floor. Datz's bare feet are now sticky.]
[ o-oh... flesh-like paper. hm. bad. dislike. she will try to pick one up anyways without hesitating, feeling like they only have so much time. she's so hungry she doesn't even feel like barfing anymore, it's just a slow-rolling nausea that has nothing to give into. is there anything at all on the paper? any pictures? words she can recognize even a little?
They will hear the sound of the guns being fired at them before they register the fact they have been shot, really.
Rita, with a roll of 3, gets knocked down on her ass when the bullet hits her squarely on the leg. It misses the major artery because the creature that fired at her rolled a 1, but it will hurt like a bitch and it the bullet will not be polite enough to leave an exit wound. It is stuck in there and she will have to find a way to dig it out later.
With a roll of 14, the teen fares much worse when the creature aiming at them rolls a 19. They go down immediately, whatever they were about to say caught in their throat. Red blooms on their stomach. Three guesses as to where they've been shot.
Datz, having rolled an 18, manages to avoid getting hit directly by a bullet — but only barely. It still skims past his arm, leaving an injury in its wake.
Meanwhile, Jolyne is the luckiest one of them all. With a Nat 20, the bullet that was meant to hit her right in the face instead misses her by a mile. The bullet flies right past her and hits the elevator wall.
There are six creatures waiting for them on the first floor, all of them armed. What will they do?]
[ i am shook, this cyoa has the most nat 20s i've ever had in one sitting. she's going to somehow miss the bullet and just immediately act. especially because both rita and the teen are shot. whoever is closest, she's diving low to try and stay out of immediate line of fire to go for the leg-ish area, an attempt to and at least knock one of the creatures down.
she is so fucking exhausted though and her face hurts and her arm hurts and insert list of complaints here, but people are shot and bleeding out so this has to stop now. she's acting up... wow i haven't played a headass like this in so long. ]
[ rita's eyes widen, and she's about to say something to the teen... but the elevator comes to a stop. she tries to quickly re-bundle the jars before the doors open...
and then she's shot. the jars drop to the floor and the bundle comes apart. rita drops like a sack of potatoes. she doesn't even have the presence of mind to scream. she just sucks in a breath and tries to get her bearings.
there's a terrified look at the bleeding teenager, and with a shaky hand, she draws the gun and points it at their attackers. it's far too shaky, in fact, with the shock of being shot and the impossible angle from where she is on the floor. but since she's holding it up, someone else can easily grab it from her hand. ]
[ shit— okay, he probably should have been prepared for this, but he wasn't, and now they're all paying for it. the bullet grazes his arm and he flinches but it's fine, there are bigger worries here.
he'd love to be able to stop and try to help one of the kids who just got fucking shot in front of him, but if they don't take these guys down then they're all dead and that's not going to do a damn thing for anyone.
so when he races over to rita it's just to grab the gun with a whispered sorry and take aim at someone's head. given who he got this thing from he's half expecting it to be a pellet gun, but even that's at least going to hurt and stun if it hits the right place.
so, he's getting up and trying to shoot, and if it turns out to be a fake, he's going to be ready to try to jump in with a punch from his other fist. ]
There is a lot happening here, so let's start from the top.
Datz, with a roll of 19, fires the gun. As he suspected, it is not a normal gun. But it is not a pellet gun, either. It's a stungun. It catches one of the creatures right in the face and it immediately crumples to the ground like soggy cardboard, twitching and grunting uncontrollably.
One down, five to go.
Unfortunately for Jolyne, her roll of 2 isn't enough to knock one of the creatures down. It deftly dodges her tackle, causing her to crash face first into the ground. Ouch. Even worse, it puts her in an extremely vulnerable position — prone. Rolling a six isn't enough for her to get back up on her feet and dodge when the creature subsequently aims its gun at her, and with a Natural 20...
It fires.
The bullet goes right through the back of Jolyne's skull.
Datz, having also rolled a 6 to dodge, isn't doing to hot either. But he wasn't knocked on his ass like Jolyne, so he at least manages to get away without a hole in his head. The same can't be said for the rest of his body, though! Having rolled a 19, one of the remaining creatures takes aim at him and fires. It catches him right in the shoulder.
Rita and the teen, having rolled a 19 and 20 respectively, manage to avoid getting shot for a second time. The remaining three creatures fire with a roll of 9, 15 and 14, which all miss and hit the elevator instead. The teen painfully pushes themselves up into a sitting position and they yank Rita so she will take cover with them, right behind the little corner behind the elevator panel.]
[ it all happens so quickly—the goal was to take some of the heat, just to muscle through it. that's how she's always been. when in doubt, just grit your teeth.

[ i am shook, this cyoa has the most nat 20s i've ever had in one sitting. she's going to somehow miss the bullet and just immediately act. especially because both rita and the teen are shot. whoever is closest, she's diving low to try and stay out of immediate line of fire to go for the leg-ish area, an attempt to and at least knock one of the creatures down.
she is so fucking exhausted though and her face hurts and her arm hurts and insert list of complaints here, but people are shot and bleeding out so this has to stop now. she's acting up... wow i haven't played a headass like this in so long. ]

and then she's shot. the jars drop to the floor and the bundle comes apart. rita drops like a sack of potatoes. she doesn't even have the presence of mind to scream. she just sucks in a breath and tries to get her bearings.
there's a terrified look at the bleeding teenager, and with a shaky hand, she draws the gun and points it at their attackers. it's far too shaky, in fact, with the shock of being shot and the impossible angle from where she is on the floor. but since she's holding it up, someone else can easily grab it from her hand. ]

[ shit— okay, he probably should have been prepared for this, but he wasn't, and now they're all paying for it. the bullet grazes his arm and he flinches but it's fine, there are bigger worries here.
he'd love to be able to stop and try to help one of the kids who just got fucking shot in front of him, but if they don't take these guys down then they're all dead and that's not going to do a damn thing for anyone.
so when he races over to rita it's just to grab the gun with a whispered sorry and take aim at someone's head. given who he got this thing from he's half expecting it to be a pellet gun, but even that's at least going to hurt and stun if it hits the right place.
so, he's getting up and trying to shoot, and if it turns out to be a fake, he's going to be ready to try to jump in with a punch from his other fist. ]

There is a lot happening here, so let's start from the top.
Datz, with a roll of 19, fires the gun. As he suspected, it is not a normal gun. But it is not a pellet gun, either. It's a stungun. It catches one of the creatures right in the face and it immediately crumples to the ground like soggy cardboard, twitching and grunting uncontrollably.
One down, five to go.
Unfortunately for Jolyne, her roll of 2 isn't enough to knock one of the creatures down. It deftly dodges her tackle, causing her to crash face first into the ground. Ouch. Even worse, it puts her in an extremely vulnerable position — prone. Rolling a six isn't enough for her to get back up on her feet and dodge when the creature subsequently aims its gun at her, and with a Natural 20...
It fires.
The bullet goes right through the back of Jolyne's skull.
Datz, having also rolled a 6 to dodge, isn't doing to hot either. But he wasn't knocked on his ass like Jolyne, so he at least manages to get away without a hole in his head. The same can't be said for the rest of his body, though! Having rolled a 19, one of the remaining creatures takes aim at him and fires. It catches him right in the shoulder.
Rita and the teen, having rolled a 19 and 20 respectively, manage to avoid getting shot for a second time. The remaining three creatures fire with a roll of 9, 15 and 14, which all miss and hit the elevator instead. The teen painfully pushes themselves up into a sitting position and they yank Rita so she will take cover with them, right behind the little corner behind the elevator panel.]
