so, he's getting up and trying to shoot, and if it turns out to be a fake, he's going to be ready to try to jump in with a punch from his other fist. ]
There is a lot happening here, so let's start from the top.
Datz, with a roll of 19, fires the gun. As he suspected, it is not a normal gun. But it is not a pellet gun, either. It's a stungun. It catches one of the creatures right in the face and it immediately crumples to the ground like soggy cardboard, twitching and grunting uncontrollably.

Unfortunately for Jolyne, her roll of 2 isn't enough to knock one of the creatures down. It deftly dodges her tackle, causing her to crash face first into the ground. Ouch. Even worse, it puts her in an extremely vulnerable position — prone. Rolling a six isn't enough for her to get back up on her feet and dodge when the creature subsequently aims its gun at her, and with a Natural 20...
It fires.

Datz, having also rolled a 6 to dodge, isn't doing to hot either. But he wasn't knocked on his ass like Jolyne, so he at least manages to get away without a hole in his head. The teen painfully pushes themselves up into a sitting position and they yank Rita so she will take cover with them, right behind the little corner behind the elevator panel.]
[ it all happens so quickly—the goal was to take some of the heat, just to muscle through it. that's how she's always been. when in doubt, just grit your teeth.
it's not enough. her eyes widen and she barely has time to feel it.
[ there are bullets whizzing past, embedding themselves in the back of the elevator. the teen pulls rita away. she looks like she's in shock. ]

[ her words are silenced by another gunshot ringing out. it's close.

[ jolyne is dead. datz is going to die. they're all going to die.
she grabs something -- one of the jars that rolled over to this side of the elevator. with some effort, she lifts herself up and hurls it at one of the creatures. ]
[ well. that bullet in jolyne's head hurts him worse than the one that hits his own shoulder, actually, and he just stares in disbelief as he watches her fall.
...but he can only do that for a second, because he still has to try to get rita and the other kid out of this alive, and he still has to get her and jolyne back to that stupid city where at least they might be able to undo this. it's not like he hasn't fought off five guys at one before, but they weren't all equipped with guns then, so he's well aware that this is going to be one hell of an uphill battle with terrible odds.
but he can't stop. ]

[So. Here's something funny: Datz rolls another freaking Nat 20 for dodging these bullets.
He is invincible. The bullets fly right past him without leaving a single mark on him as he gives this fight his questionable best. And I say questionable, because his attack roll was just 8 — but 8 is more than enough to get a lucky hit in on one of the creatures who just rolled a 6. It is momentarily stunned; the gun falls out of its hands.
Too bad Jolyne is far too dead to witness this.
The teen doesn't seem too distressed to see her go down. If anything, they just seem extremely annoyed by the turn of events. Following Rita's lead, they crawl towards the remaining jar and chuck it at one of the creatures. Between Rita's 12 and the teen's 14, the jars hit two more creatures in the face. The glass jars shatter, spilling their contents all over the goopy assholes and cutting into their flesh. One of the creatures begins to retch, dropping their gun, while the other simply starts cursing up a storm.
Three momentarily disarmed. Two still actively shooting.
Unfortunately for the teen squad, their rolls aren't high enough to avoid getting shot. Again. Another bullet catches Rita in the arm, while the teen takes a hit on the hip with a strangled scream.]
[ datz is fighting with everything he's got, shouting like an idiot as he does, and... somehow, he doesn't get killed.
it's like witnessing a very stupid miracle.
rita's stunned by the sight, maybe even a little awestruck, but then a bullet slams into her arm, and she cries out in pain. she looks to the teen in concern as they do, too... but there's no time. every second wasted means more bullets flying at them.
there are guns on the floor.
fighting through the pain, rita forces her body to move, throwing herself out of the elevator and at one of those guns, grabbing for it, and immediately pointing and shooting wildly at the creatures. ]
[ that's the will of the dragon for you, he thinks, even if his luck's bound to run out soon. but for now datz is taking full advantage of the situation, switching the stun gun over to the hand on his bad arm since that doesn't require such precise aim and snatching up the gun the creature in front of him drops.
he's firing at each of the creatures that's still armed, at this point absolutely shooting to kill just like they did to jolyne, looking to get them down permanently before the ones that are temporarily disabled have a chance to recover. ]
[ amidst the chaos and the struggle, fighting for their lives, jolyne's body twitches. her hand first, then her ankle. her head shifts in the bloody messy on the ground and suddenly she's gasping, slapping a hand on the ground immediately, her eyes wide, the whites of them stark against the blood in a sunburst pattern on her face as she turns her head.
jolyne cujoh is alive.
and someone shot her. someone shot her in the back of the head. blood mats the blonde portions of her hair. as she turns around, sees rita firing, sees datz fighting for their lives ...
(travis willingham voice) i would like to rage. because jolyne is finding anything on ground now, maybe one of the discarded guns (or even chunks of glass)... just pistol whipping or slashing at the first creature that she sees, her eyes wild, teeth clenched through the pain of it all. 'til it's dying breath - it glares, it roars, and it latches its jaws firmly onto its prey 'til the bitter end. so she will open the proverbial jaws of hell and she will come out screaming. ]
[Datz continues to, somehow, avoid getting a bullet to the face. With a roll of 12, the two still armed creatures fire and miss him by a wide margin. Unfortunately, Rita and the teen do not manage to beat the creature's attack rolls. Rita gets shot again when she darts out to grab the gun, in a non-lethal spot of Pazu's shooting. The teen also gets shot again, though it's hard to see where the bullet goes — they simply collapse, facedown.
Luckily, Rita's attack roll is much better than her dodging. She snatches the gun from the ground, and with a roll of 16, shoots the creature that was retching and gagging, still covered in bits of glass and fruit jam. Having rolled a 1, they go down with a bullet right between its eyes.
Even with a roll of 18, Datz won't be able to take down both of the creatures that are still armed. However, he still manages to take down one of them with a bullet through its stomach. He might want to doubletap just in case—
Especially since, with a visible gunshot wound on her face, Jolyne still manages to snatch one of the discarded guns to pistol whip one of the unarmed creature. They go down immediately, unconscious, never having stood a chance. It's not like they could have expected someone to get up right after taking a bullet right between the eyes.
One more down. Two incapacitated. One still left standing.
[ somehow, a bullet fired from the gun she just grabbed hits its mark. but seeing as she's basically shooting from the floor, where she threw herself at this weapon, rita can't move out of the way. another bullet tears through her shoulder at a downward angle, forcing her to drop the gun.
it looks like maybe this is it. rita's at her limits. that teen can't be doing much better. datz can't keep fighting forever. and jolyne is...
... back on her feet.
rita can only watch with wide-eyed awe as someone who surely suffered a mortal wound gets back up and starts fighting again. ]
[ hell yeah, datz is thinking with appreciation as the bullet from rita's gun brings down one of the creatures... but then there's another firing back at her, and he winces as he sees it hit out of the corner of his eye. he just tightens his grip on his gun; if she's fighting that hard he's going to do his best to make sure it's not for nothing.
another creature suddenly falls nearby without an attack from either of them, and he glances over to see what happened only to see jolyne risen from the dead with a gun in her hand. holy shit, she's really living up to those initials he's been calling her by.
he's got no time to question it; what's important is that he's not about to let anyone take her down a second time. with his morale significantly boosted by her return and the fact that both of the girls on his team here are such awesome fucking badasses, he fires at the last armed creature. ]
[ the bullets are relentless, but so are they. she does watch rita get hit and will double team the last asshole standing with datz to make sure they go down. gun in hand, she'll open fire at the hips/knee-general area of the creature if there are any bullets left, and if not, well they're just literally getting a gun thrown at their head.
she's had enough of them getting hurt. she wants to run and make sure rita and their teen are okay, but they have to be out of the immediate danger first - and that's these insane creatures that want them dead. we have to have been framed, we can't have done it, this isn't real it can't be real but it feels so fucking real.
so she pushes herself just a little more, just a little bit more.
(and if any of these fuckers who's incapacitated looks like they're calling for back up, she is immediately curb stomping them in the face. no back up. nothing.) ]
[Normally, that first roll would have been for dodging. But, you know, Datz deserves this at this point. With another fucking Nat 20, Datz takes aim at the last armed creature and fires. The bullet goes right through its eye and out the back of its head, splattering chunks of flesh, bone and brains all over (looks at the dice) Jolyne. The bullet hits the wall right behind her, which is thoroughly splattered in blood and gore by this point.
There's no need for Jolyne to yeet her gun at it, since it is far too dead. But she can happily curb stomp the incapacitated creatures in the face when they begin to try and crawl towards their weapons. Her rolls of 7 and 10 are enough to do the job while they are prone. Double tap them to death, babygirl.
The first floor is terribly quiet after the creatures are taken care of. Only the sound of the gang's ragged breathing and the low hum of the air conditioner remains.]
a few moments pass, as it seems to take a little time for that fact to sink in. then, rita suddenly pulls herself up to her feet, uttering a pained gasp when she realizes how much it hurts to put her weight on her leg. everything hurts. they're surrounded by bodies and blood and gore, yet it's hard to feel appropriately horrified by it all. everything around them is already so horrifying.
eyes wide, she looks to jolyne, then datz...
then she turns and half-runs, half-limps back to the elevator. ]
[ damn... they actually did it. unfortunately it's not the time or atmosphere for celebration when they're all shot up and bleeding — though he is going to carefully pull jolyne into a quick little hug first. ]

[The teen is laying flat on their face with a not insignificant amount of blood pooling around them. There is a gunshot wound on the side of their head with all that it implies.
But they are twitching. And they blearily turn their head to stare at the group when they head back to the elevator.
Maybe there are proper supplies to deal with everyone's injuries somewhere on this floor. It is a hospital, after all.]

[No magic HP-restoring flesh pods out of an RPG down here. But assuming Datz is looking in both rooms, he will find that both of the doors are unlocked. Room 1-1 is a security room, still as meaty as the rest of the hospital, but with several displays showing each room in the hospital. From the third floor to the first. He may check out the displays if he wishes, now or later. There are some movements on the third floor.
Room 1-2 is an examination room with two beds. He will have a hard time telling the supplies he finds apart when they all look like they are made from body parts, but the fuzzy roll of fungus he finds is similar enough to what was taped to his IV drip when he first woke up.
In the elevator, the teen complains when Rita and Jolyne get them into a better position, but it's less of a protest and more that, you know, everything really hecking hurts.
They grip Jolyne's hand when she applies pressure to their wounds.]
