can she read the label on that key?

if she tries to operate the computer, can she find any information? maybe something that would have prompted someone to suddenly get up and leave? hmm. ]

[ is this bathroom connecting 2-1 and 2-2, is that what seems to be happening here? if jolyne is opening the door on the other side datz will just stay in his room on the other side of the bathroom with his own letter opener in hand and peek in when he hears the handle turning. ]

[The bathroom does, in fact, connect 2-1 and 2-2. Jolyne and Datz are peeking into the bathroom at the same time, with their bloodstained faces. The bathroom light hasn't been turned on yet. Try not to stab each other... unless...?

The label on the key is all gibberish to Rita. Likewise, she can see some sort of messaging app open on the computer but she can't make heads or tails of what is written there.]

[ she just lets out a silent breath of relief. oh hi datz.

she does not attack him. she just leaves her letter opener in her pocket, hand still there and just looks around. does the bathroom look... empty. we didn't walk in on someone using it did we? anything fucked up in here (besides the gore.) ]

[ hm. rita's going to head back to the hallway, looking over to the teen waiting with the elevator and holding up the key to show.

does this key look similar in shape/size to the one they used to operate the elevator earlier? ]

[ waves, with a very tired half-smile. a small surprise on this cyoa that isn't horribly unpleasant, imagine that.

he'll... turn on the bathroom light i guess, if they're looking around in there? is it just a toilet and sink (and possibly air vent) or is there a bathtub/shower in there too? is there an ominous message written on the mirror or anything? ]

[Jolyne and Datz can rest easy knowing that they didn't walk in on one of the creatures in the shower.

There is a toilet and sink, but no air vent. No messages written on the otherwise filthy mirror. The bathtub doubles as a shower, and it is filled to the brim with murky red liquid.

The key Rita found does, in fact, look similar to the one she used earlier to operate the elevator. The teen brightens when they see it.]

[ a very tired smile...

but also... stares at murky red liquid like she absolutely does not want to find out what's inside of it. she nods a little out of the bathroom like ??? let's leave? ]

[ rita will bring the key over so the teen can try it and make sure it works. but she's not looking to leave yet...

she looks over at the hallway. where did those two go...? ]

[ uhhh yeah let's do that! nods and reaches for her non-letter opener hand with his own non-letter opener hand.

if they go back out through 2-2 to return to the hall, nothing has suddenly appeared in here that he didn't see before, has it... ]

[The teen will stick the key in the keyhole for the first floor. It fits? They cannot turn it without making the elevator go down, though.

Nothing has suddenly appeared in 2-2 or in the hallway. It is so, so very quiet out here.]

[ rita and the teen don't have to wait long, because we are leaving we are leaving we are leaving!!!!!!! jolyne is coming out of 2-2 with datz so they can quietly make their way over to the elevator. gives a small nod to the both of them. ]

Come on. I found the key.

[ keeping her voice low, rita waves the others in. the teen may turn the key. ]

And something else.

[ she'll unwrap the bundle, showing them the two jars she grabbed from room 2-3. ]

The heck's that?

[ squints ]

Like, preserved fruit? Where'd you find it?

[The lights flicker when the teen turns the key. It is probably nothing to worry about, though, because the elevator doors slide shut after a moment and the cabin begins to move down. The group will get a short break to talk among themselves. The elevator will move as slowly as you need it.

The teen looks at the jars Rita brought with her, opening their mouth to say something — but then they clamp it shut. They glance at Datz, blinking.]

[ .............stomach growl. please excuse her. she is embarrassed. ]

Oh. [ this is fine. ] That actually looks good... [ anything looks good when you are This Hungry. she's trying not to seem it though. ] Didn't find much else, just these like weird papers. Can't read 'em...

I don't know what it is. It was in that room.

It's about the only thing I've seen here that doesn't look completely nauseating, so...

I wasn't able to make anything out on the computer, either.

Didn't find anything over there [ a nod toward 2-2 ] 'cept for, uh, a missing mattress and a shattered machine...?

[ which was creepy but not helpful...

glances at the teen ]

[The elevator keeps going down, down, down...

The teen looks between the three of them, their eyebrows furrowed in confusion. They open their mouth. Close it. Open it again.]

What do you mean... [They trail off. Shake their head.] Nauseating?

[ oh

she looks between. datz, rita, and the teen. ] Mmm... everything just. It's kind of fleshy and weird right now. [ looking at the teen curiously. she's gonna be real. ] Isn't it...? This place, it's like it's made of meat.

Yeah. I mean... what else would you call this?

[ gesturing around vaguely. ]

Yeah, it's like... major horror movie vibes.

[The teen stares at them.]

... Is that what the world looks like to you? Meat?

[Their gaze flickers to the jars in Rita's arms, and then to her face.]

And those look like...?

[ hahahahaha there's nothing wrong with. this. is there. there's nothing wrong!!!! I HATE BEING CANON FAMILIAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRR.

jolyne doesn't answer, her stomach does. again. grumble grumble. the answer: the best thing i've seen all day. ]
