[This is what happens when you don't build your survival horror hospitals to be OSHA compliant.
Stepping inside the elevator, they can still hear the creature choking on its own blood, struggling to breathe through the hole in its throat. And then, just as the doors begin to close — the creature falls silent with one last strangled breath.
The pee blob remains blissfully unconscious and unaware.
Now that they're inside the elevator, they are facing a new challenge.
The panel within the elevator indicates that there are three floors total. The third floor, where they are now, along with the second floor and the first floor. The only problem is that, instead of having buttons they can push to take them down, there is a keyhole for each floor.
The keyring they stole from the poor blob who Datz bludgeoned to death only had three keys. Two of them they already know belong to the elevator gate and the elevator doors. They only have one key left to try, and there is no clear indication of which floor it will allow them to go to.]
is there like. a card slot at all in this elevator? we do still have... a key card too from the first blob we mcmurdered (sorry). 1/3 alive is better than 0/3 alive? :face_holding_back_tears:
she just glances at him and then at her arm which is. well. not great. is there even a visible like. portion of the stupid needle sticking out at all? ]
Hurts like motherfucker... it's hard to even think like this, it's like I'm hungry and cold constantly, what the hell did they do to us? They said we murdered kids...
[ the atmosphere is pretty heavy as the others file in, but there's no time to dwell on it. at least, so thinks rita, who was fortunate enough to not see the entire interaction with the creature dying on the floor as the elevator doors close. ]
They... what?
[ a dazed look, and then she shakes her head. ]
It's obviously nonsense. Forget about it.
[ the adrenaline is wearing off, and that's a problem. she can't give in to the hunger and disorientation and dizziness. she needs to focus.
she'll try sticking this horrible tooth-key into the keyhole for the first floor. does it turn? if not, she'll try the others. ]
[ yeah, he's still kind of dazed himself. and even though he just asked about jolyne's arm, he has nothing to offer back to her response except for "oh, sorry, that sucks" so he just. doesn't. ]
Yep, that's what he said.
[ he hesitates for a second, frowning as he thinks back to that last creature before it started dying horribly. ]
Did you notice— [ ... ] Never mind, not important.
[ anyway. going to look around this elevator while rita's trying the key and jolyne's checking for the key card. anything of note in here? anything dropped on the floor, any notices taped up anywhere, any escape hatches, does it have those weird mirror sides that are going to force them to look at their crimes and shame? ]
[They should still have everything they looted from the first body, provided they didn't drop it on their way here. There's nothing in the elevator that looks like it could be used with a keycard. However, the card does appear to be an RFID card. There is a somewhat faded picture of the first creature they killed on one side of the card, scowling at the camera. A name is written right beneath the picture, but it's all gibberish to Jolyne.
There's a hint of the needle visibly poking out of her skin. However, she will need some sort of tool to safely pull it out of her arm.
The key does not work on the keyhole for the first floor, no. However, it does turn easily when she tries the second floor keyhole. The elevator begins to move down. The gang may talk amongst themselves for one more round until they arrive at the next floor.
There is nothing particularly helpful inside the elevator. Datz can spot an escape hatch on the ceiling of the cabin, but it's ridiculously tiny. Only Rita and the teen could plausibly squeeze through. A mirror stares down at them from the upper corner of the elevator.
Datz and Jolyne look just as terrible as they might imagine, with the evidence of their actions thus far splattered all over their faces.
The teen, for whatever reason, pointedly avoids looking up at the mirror. They quietly nod when Jolyne thanks them, but they don't really contribute anything to the conversation, chewing on the inside of their mouth and shifting on their feet anxiously.]
[ great she is no longer looking at the mirror that is not something she wants to see right now! also the bit of a needle poking out of her skin sucks! she will not try to mess with it... right now. ]
Can only imagine what's on the second floor if that was the third one...
[ she would like to not kill... more... she's so cold. looking at the card. ]
Might be able to use this... Don't know how, but it was on that creature. [ frowning as she shoves the letter opener carefully into the scrub pocket now. ] Can't make out anything else, but weird the elevator was gated up like that.
[ so they still need to get through the second floor... that's bad. that guy just called the police. they could be on their way... ]
Turn around for a second. [ she says this to datz. and since i assume he will, she'll go ahead and change into the scrubs he tossed to her. they're a little big, but at least they don't fall right off. the gown is rolled into a bundle that she keeps in her arms, with the gun hidden inside. best not to carry that in plain sight.
there's a look at the teen here with them. they finally have a moment, so... ]

[ for? some reason? still doesn't like that.
he does as instructed, turning his back and crossing his arms. ]
Kinda weird that the guy didn't have a key to the first floor too, isn't it? Isn't that like, the exit?

My dad hasn't named me yet.
[They can just call them whatever.
It's time to go, though. Shortly after this, the elevator arrives at the second floor.]
