...my boss knew more about the world than anyone else. He told me that this man's survival was the most important thing. So, I trust him.

'That man' isn't the man in white, by the way. It's someone inconsequential to all of this.

I figured when you mentioned it was more of a home thing. [ but everybody's thinking of home things these days, aren't they? it's all nico's focused on. at this rate he just wants to get everyone back and out and back where...they want to go, even if it's not necessarily where they belong. ]

Do we even have any more leads on the man in white? Since he's the guy standing in our way now.

Nimona asked about the moon cycles earlier. When he showed up last time, it was a full moon.

Right. Prior to that, I heard the moon was lowering itself little by little before it unleashed an all-out attack. Did nobody think that maybe evacuating the city before that would help? [ genuine question. ]

Well it wasn't an immediate fall or anything, we thought it was just a supermoon at first. By the time we realized it was actually falling, it was too late. There's like 3 million people in this city. We did try to evacuate everyone, but it takes days to get that many people out. Once we realized what was happening, we had just a few hours.

[resumed]

[ the look on his face says "i didn't even think there were that many people" but okay, that's fine. ]

But isn't a supermoon like...bigger by default? The newspaper said it was lowering day by day which doesn't sound exactly the same as something orbiting continuously. But I'm not an astronomer so maybe that's not right either. I guess it doesn't matter now, it was obviously too much for just the twelve of you.

[ so moving on. ]

Rabbit gave me a rundown of the moon cycles though, so I understand that a little better.

Yeah, it was like...

[They trail off for a moment, thinking about it.]

We didn't realize it was falling at first, if that makes sense? Like, in hindsight it was totally falling, we just didn't realize that until it was too late.

B-but yeah, it's not important really. If it happens again we'll know what to look for.

I mentioned the moon cycles because that's what Nimona asked me about, so I wanted to make sure that information got to you too.

[ nodding along. that's fair enough, he supposes. ]

Thanks. Nimona usually tells me everything but it doesn't hurt to have things come from a second source as well just to be sure. This might seem like a silly question, but if the moon fell and crashed to the ground in the attack, how did it get back into the sky and start the cycle all over again?

I...really don't know. It just went back there after we defeated that man.

I guess the moon was involved in his power? And that when we defeated him, it released the moon from his grasp?

Also a lot of this information is secondhand for me. I spent most of that time forcibly transformed.

Which leads to the age-old question "which came first, the man or the moon?" A lot of his notes make it sound like they're on in the same at this point.

[They glance away, a little embarrassed.]

Normally I can control it better, even during the full moon, but the moon was really close...

[Does it really count as 'Beast Beneath the Moonlight' if the moon is on the ground though?]

That happens when the moon's sinking out of the sky, yeah. [ but again he raises an eyebrow at that thought bubble, unsure if he should be addressing that part of it or not. ]

[They look up at the thought bubble and sigh.]

It's fine. Powers have names where I'm from, and that's the name of mine. I have more control over it now, but when I was a kid I would uncontrollably transform into a tiger every time there was a full moon. Kind of like a werewolf, but a tiger instead.

[ he nods because sure, that's not too uncommon. ]

I wasn't aware some of you still maintained your abilities from home in Oceanside, too. [ he's not entirely sure how to address "i'm a weretiger", but he's friends with enough people with transformation abilities it's not that much of a stretch. ]

Tiger's a new one. How did you learn to control it?

[They shrug. They don't really have an explanation of why they ended up with their own power here.]

I should say it's mostly the same but still a little different. The healing is a bit trickier than normal because I have to be eating stuff to do it.

[At that last question though, they go a bit awkward and rub at their neck, which is currently covered in a turtleneck.]

It's...not exactly a nice story.

[ he's sort of like "well that's unfair, thanks oceanside" but then he figures that he's still working on figuring out how to get his actual powers back so whatever. ]

If that's really the only drawback I'm not seeing an entire downside to having something familiar. [ but. you know. ]

...that's fair enough though. Usually things like that aren't simple or kind. I'm sorry to hear that. [ because what else do you say? he's not going to push them to tell him when it's not really his business either and they're not comfortable with it. ]

There is still, um. The tiger part. Which is a pretty big downside too.

[But hearing Nico be nice, even a little bit, makes Tiger rethink things a little.]

...pain is what stopped the transformations.

[ he supposes being a tiger could be a downside. he doesn't entirely understand how much it works, but he figures if tiger controls their powers well enough by now at least it is, again, something familiar. a better advantage than most of them, but he remains impassive as he listens to them continue. ]

Every time a force of pain was applied, you would revert back then? There wasn't another way at the time? [ or like. at all. ]

There was, but...he's dead now. So I have to do it on my own.

...doesn't sound very pleasant to deal with if there's only yourself to rely on.

It really isn't. And my control has been slipping lately too.

Not too badly right now? But sometimes fur appears on me when I don't mean for it to. And tiger ears sometimes.
