[The boss doesn't react to Sigrun's words, though he does hear them. He has always been a quiet and nonreactive kind of person though. Just there to give orders and congratulate you for results. He will answer Saya's question though.]
If he dies on Saturday a specific person will see and try to assist him. Being unable to save his life will shake that person to their core and drive them to change careers to help others more. Without witnessing that death, that specific person will never feel the drive to change careers, and won't be present to help in the future at a specific crisis.
It's the same as before: the death of one will prevent many deaths in the future.
[Sigrun stays quiet while she listens to the boss' reasoning. It does make sense, one life in exchange of many others being saved. She exhales, nodding slightly, at least listening to the reasoning]
[Inwardly trying to recall of Saya's profile said anything about sniper rifle proficiency.
If Saya decides she's fine doing this, well, what's Sigrun going to do, subdue Saya during the entire day? Not really.
...but another thought: if this turns out to really be like that, that this is somehow a huge complex setting up for a murder case, and next they know they're culprits or something, perhaps it'd be best...well, is she really going to let this kid take the blame for things?
If this is all a set up to get one of them to kill and be the next trial, and it's inevitable to fall into such a trap, then...the right thing to do is to be the one to take the fall, no?
So Sigrun pipes up, putting a hand on Saya's shoulder:]
Very long-range isn't my forte but I might have better luck with it than you with it if you really, really do think that's the way to do things.
[She has no idea what will happen or if Saya will decide to go ahead and try to kill, and Sigrun is hoping Saya won't accept the task, but at the end of the day it's not like Sigrun's opinion is what makes things go on around here. Saya counts too]
... If it's true, and his death inspires someone else to do good... [she trails off for a moment, eyebrows furrowing as she tries to put what's bothering her into words.] Would it be our fault if a lot more people die later because we didn't do it?
I dunno, I'm not into thinking too hard about things. And what happened at the mall was...something.
[One moment things are fine, the next moment a bomb flies in the air and blasts everything, that sure was a twist of events]
Look, it's not like I'm going to tell you off if you think the best thing to do is to kill this guy. I would rather not to and you know that, but come on, you get to have opinions too. Think killing him is the right thing to do here?
Mm... I don't want to call too much attention to us, though. Especially if we have to... um...
[you know, kill a man?
if they're heading for the school, they probably still have that school uniform they stole, so saya will wear it if they're doing this during daytime hours.]
Would it be easier to sneak in at night? They won't just let us look at the student records...
[Since Saya has the uniform they don't stand out much at all. Sigrun is generally relaxed, checking out the exterior of the building for a while longer before nodding]
Let's try tonight. If it doesn't work, then tomorrow morning we get in there. Enough time for it all, we can afford to take it slow for a while.
There is one security guard that peeks in every now and then, and the doors are locked. It shouldn't be too difficult to overcome, or at least that is what I would say if the dice weren't being so awful.
[hmmm... okay, well. saya would first like to observe the security guard's routine for a little while, just to get a sense of how much time passes between those every now and thens.
if they're able to get a sense of that, she will gesture at sigrun to keep watch for the guard while she tries to pick this lock... skills: breaking and entering.]
[Sigrun does her part, letting Saya work uninterrupted while she keeps track of the guard. Given they're not really in disguise right now, Sigrun probably has the black clothes, which may or may not help a little with stealth while following the guard and keeping an eye on them. Anything to heighten the odds of this working well!]
[With that 17 Saya can get a good sense of the security guard's patrol routes and sneak in while he's on the other side of the school. She also breaks in easily, while Sigrun keeps an eye out for the guard or any sudden movements.
Fortunately they won't have to go digging through hundreds of records to try and find one student when they don't know his name. There are two files on the secretary's desk. One each for the people who have interfered with your missions twice now.]
[... interesting. are there any signs of why these two specific files were places here, looking around the secretary's desk? any sticky notes or whatever?
she flips through both of the records quickly, as someone who can speed read pretty fast, looking for home addresses as well as any other information that pops out. names, special comments on their records, and the like.
do they have a camera or something they can use to take pictures/make copies of the files? she's a little worried that straight up stealing the files would alert the school and the two students that someone is out to get them.]
[In the meantime, Sigrun stays alert outside. It'd be a tad difficult to alert Saya while she's inside the building if the guard takes an unexpected detour, but at the very least she can ensure Saya's exit route will be unimpeded]
[It looks like there is also a writeup form on the secretary's desk. I guess skipping class and blocking kids in a classroom are writeup-worthy.
But yeah she can have a flip-phone to take pictures with. There's mostly academic information here, but there's also home addresses.
Sigrun will figure it out. Because before too long, the guard starts circling around to the area where the office is. He seems to be still patrolling but it's going in that direction now.]
[Oh, already going back towards the office! Better make sure he won't get in the way. Sigrun doesn't hesitate, she goes down the hallway, making sure there are a couple corners between the guard and her, and strongly kicks anything nearby that might cause a noise. A locker, a door, a trashcan, anything that might echo in the empty, silent school. I rolled a 13!
As soon as she kicks she runs away, towards any way out available to get out of the school. There you go, Saya, the coast should be clear for a while longer!]

she does have one more question for the boss before they leave, though. so presumably they're whispering and he just can't hear sigrun, but—]
I saw him in the mall last week. He... moved one of the bombs. Why does he need to die?

[she glances at sigrun again, just for a moment.]
What's the specific crisis? Do you know? Having to leave a witness is going to be a problem too, if we're recognized later...

We already hurt all those people at the mall.

It probably wouldn't hurt to check him out anyway. We can decide what to do on Saturday, right?
no subject
[Sigrun is all for that]
Let's make sure to follow the right guy around this time.
[She offers a fist bump]

Okay. Then let's take all the equipment we need.

You remember what school he went to, and if you can figure out a way in you might be able to get his educational records.]

...you know, we have nothing to hide this time. We could just go through the front door and to whatever office has the records we need.
[They probably aren't carrying weapons with them they need to hide, it shoooould be fine to just stroll in, maybe]
All we'd have to do is be quick about finding the right thing and we can be out in no time!
